Does Brava! Enterprise have an “offline” view and annotate capability, or is a server connection always required?
Yes. OpenText Brava! Desktop may be used on a Windows PC in offline viewing with the ability to modify annotation markup files created on Brava! Enterprise server. Additionally, Brava! Desktop offline markup files can be worked with in the Brava! Enterprise HTML client. The transfer of the markup files between the server and the desktop workstation must be handled by the developer integrating the Brava! viewer into a web application.

Can the Brava! HTML client control the ability to download or “export” the original file?
Yes. The Brava! HTML viewer client API has a download class and function that can be used to retrieve the source document via its URL. The download function in the toolbar can be set to True or False, with the default being False.

Does Brava! Enterprise use native Microsoft Office or does it use third-party libraries for rendering MS Office documents?
Brava! uses MS Office programs installed on the Job Processor server(s) to render MS Office documents natively. An option is available to use non-Microsoft (third-party) libraries on the server. This option is suitable for certain situations where rendering performance/efficiency is more important than native MS Office rendering fidelity.

Does the Brava! HTML client require Java or ActiveX components or other plugins to be installed in the browser?
No, those technologies are not required to run the Brava! HTML viewer. The Brava! HTML client consists of HTML5 / JavaScript only.

Does Brava! Enterprise offer a zero-footprint viewer option?
Yes. In addition to the ActiveX Viewer, Brava! Enterprise also comes packaged with an industry-leading HTML Viewer that works with all standard browsers. This allows for a quick and easy deployment with nothing to install on the client machines.

Can I view Office documents with Brava! Enterprise?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise empowers users to view hundreds of file types using one viewer, including Microsoft Office documents, such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Please refer to the OpenText Brava! Enterprise Supported Formats page for the full list.

What tools does Brava! Enterprise provide for viewing CAD Drawings?
In addition to the full set of annotation and redaction tools, users can perform measurements on a CAD drawing, toggle visibility of CAD layers, change color scheme, rescale for printing and do graphical comparisons of two CAD drawings.

Can Brava! Enterprise compare 2 versions of a document to see differences?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise has a feature that lets users compare 2 documents and identify changes. The compared documents do not need to be the same file type. For example, users can compare a Microsoft Word document to a PDF, etc.

Will Brava! Enterprise let me make comments that can be responded to?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise has a full and rich set of annotation tools. Brava! Changemarks provide threaded conversations with comment sections, built in response/status flags and audit metadata, such as date and timestamps and author name.

Can Brava! Enterprise be integrated into my current ECM system?
Brava! Enterprise has seamless out-of-the-box integrations to leading ECM systems, including Microsoft SharePoint, IBM FileNet, OpenText™ Documentum™ and the OpenText™ Content Suite Platform. Brava! Enterprise also comes with an extensive SDK allowing users to build their own custom Java or .NET web integration to work with virtually any file repository.

What file formats does Brava! Enterprise support?

Does Brava! Enterprise support OCR?
The OpenText™ Blazon™ Enterprise add on is an excellent option to provide OCR capabilities to the Brava! Solution. Blazon Enterprise can support pre-processing of non-text searchable file types and create OCR published content for Brava! Enterprise to display.

Can Brava! Enterprise combine, split, and merge documents?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise has the capability to load a wide variety of document types and their pages can be combined, re-arranged or removed, and then republished as a new PDF document.

We have our own custom-built application for accessing files. Can we still use Brava!?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise comes with a robust SDK for integration with custom applications. If you need assistance configuring Brava! for your application, we also offer professional services.

I just need Brava! for myself. Is there a way I can use Brava! Enterprise on my home computer?
Brava! Enterprise is designed for use in a server-based environment. If you are interested in using our product in a smaller business setting or at home, we would recommend our powerful Brava! Desktop application.

Can I use Brava! to view files stored in my content management (ECM), document management (DMS), archive or custom-built information management system?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise can be integrated with most open file management. The solution has an extensive SDK which speeds the integration process. Brava! integration products are offered for many popular ECM products. Please contact us to learn if a Brava! integration product exists for your ECM system(s).

Can I use Brava! to annotate files?
Yes. Brava! Enterprise allows users to annotate files. In fact, Brava! allows users to view, annotate, publish/print, measure, redact and merge. With the HTML 5 viewer, these features are also supported on mobile devices and tablets.

Can Brava! open ACAD DWG files?
Yes. Brava! can open DWG files, other CAD files and many more file formats, including viewing 3D models. Please refer to the OpenText Brava! Enterprise Supported Formats page for the full list.

Can I use Brava! to redact PDF files?
Yes. Brava! can be used to redact PDF files. In fact, Brava! can be used to redact any of the supported filetypes. Not only does Brava! facilitate placing the redaction, it can be used to “burn-in” the redaction. In this process, Brava! creates a new redacted PDF file without carrying forward the original PDF file’s metadata. Also, any previously selectable/searchable text underneath the redaction is completely removed from the file. In short, the Brava! redaction feature completely removes the redacted data from the document; rather than hide it. Additionally, each redaction can be labeled with a “redaction reason” that explains why the redaction was made.

Can I search a drawing file, Word document or spreadsheet while it is open in Brava!?
Yes. Brava! offers a Quick Search tool as well as powerful predefined pattern functions and regex capabilities. If desired, a search preview of the search text results are shown in context with the words and users can click a hit to immediately navigate the desired result.

Can teams use Brava! to make annotations to the same set of files at the same time, even if the users are working in different offices?
Yes. Brava! is built for the enterprise and can be configured to allow teams to annotate and collaborate on the same set of files whether they are working on a computer in the office, on a tablet at a customer site or on a mobile device halfway around the world. Brava! allows users to make annotations without modifying the original file by making use of overlay files. Therefore, annotations can be shared or kept private depending on the need. Brava! can be configured to align to any policy employed to manage teams annotations.
