For customers who have invested in Microsoft Office 365 for collaboration, OpenText has created a unique cohesive solution to allow Content Suite users to collaborate and co-author Office documents using Microsoft Office Online.
The add-on provides true Office-format editing capability, without requiring the installation of any client software apart from a browser. All users need is a connection to Content Server 16.2 and a Microsoft Office 365 license with a subscription level that supports access to Office Online.
The Office Online document editing technology uses the web application versions of Microsoft Office to allow effortless collaboration.
The add-on is available for customers running OpenText™ Content Suite Platform (CSP) or OpenText™ Extended ECM in a variety of environments.

For companies running Content Server on-premises that want to integrate with Office Online Server. This product delivers a complete on-premises solution for customers with high security requirements. Documents do not leave the customer’s premises and are not cached on Microsoft Servers. Customers must have Content Server 16.2.8 or higher.

Understanding the difference between Office Online Service and Office Online Server
The Microsoft® Office Online Service is a Microsoft hosted cloud service that provides document web editing and co-authoring. Any user using this service must have a valid Office 365 subscription level that supports access to Office Online. Integrating with this service requires a deployment of the OpenText™ Office Online Broker in the OpenText Cloud. The OpenText™ Office Online Broker is the connection between OpenText Content Server and the Microsoft Office Online Service or the Microsoft Office Online Server.
The Microsoft® Office Online Server is customer downloaded and installed software that provides document web editing and co-authoring. Integrating with the Office Online Server requires that the customer downloads and installs the Office Online Broker from OpenText. The Office Online Server is downloaded from Microsoft.
Seamless web editing and co-authoring
Web editing is the ability to edit a document using only browser-based technology, without the need for classic Microsoft Office desktop applications, ActiveX controls or browser extensions.
Co-authoring offers an exciting leap in collaborative document management. It allows multiple people to work together on a Microsoft® Word documents, Microsoft® Excel® spreadsheets or Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentations and see realtime updates from the other users working on the asset.
